Kaia Gerber’s Personal Style 2024 (An Overview)

Kaia Gerber’s name always seems to be in the mix. While she’s known as an American model and actress, she’s also in a public relationship with well-known actor Austin Butler. I was particularly interested in Kaia’s personal style when I saw a picture of her recently leaving Erewhon (a luxury grocery store chain in Los Angeles) because she was dressed like a quintessential LA girl. I personally love this style, so I was excited to do a deep dive into her style. As I mentioned in my Dua Lipa article last week, I research celebrity personal style because I love taking fashion inspo from my favorite celebs. As a normal girlie, everyday style is my jam. I still love red carpet looks, but I prefer to focus on what celebs wear daily. Let’s look at Kaia Gerber’s personal style!

STYLE ELEMENT #1: LA GIRL CASUAL VIBES

I personally love LA style!! I am not from LA or even the West Coast (East Coast girlie here!), but I am very inspired by LA style, so I think I can explain it to you. I would describe this style as effortless, easy, casual, comfortable, and chic. The vibe is simple yet elevated and slightly bohemian. Some key pieces are jeans (straight leg or baggy), good basics (like tees and tanks), fashion sneakers, cute accessories (sunglasses, baseball hats, tote bags, little shoulder bags), cool knits, and athleisure. Something else to keep in mind is that because LA’s weather is always generally warm, there isn’t a need for outerwear so the main outfit can really shine!

Some of Kaia’s recent outfits that definitely give me the LA Girl vibes:

• Leaving Erewhon she wore mid-rise loose/straight-leg blue jeans, a classic light blue crew neck cardigan, a little black shoulder bag, and chunky leather boots. I love how simple & chic this outfit is!

• Quite a few outfits with leggings, a tee/sweatshirt, crew socks, chunky sneakers, sunglasses, and a tote bag.

• Loose crew neck cardigan, baggy jeans, Birkenstock Boston shoes, sunglasses, and a tote bag

TRY IT YOURSELF: Pair a classic crewneck cardigan (buttoned up, leaving the top & bottom buttons unbuttoned) with straight-leg jeans, add a small shoulder bag or tote bag, and finish the outfit with fashion sneakers or chunky leather boots.

STYLE ELEMENT #2: CLASSIC OUTERWEAR & LAYERING

Even though she is an LA girl and oftentimes doesn’t need outerwear, whenever she is in a place that you need outerwear (ex: NYC in winter), she wears classic coats like a long black coat, trench coat, or a bomber jacket. Even in LA, she will add a cute jacket like a leather blazer or layer a sweater over her shoulders. Regardless of the weather, layering is an easy way to elevate any outfit!

Some recent examples from Kaia:

• A long black wrap coat layered over a black top, loose jeans, and chunky leather boots.

• A bomber jacket layered over a sweatshirt, wide-leg trousers, and sneakers.

• A trench coat layered over a sweatshirt, wide-leg trousers, and sneakers.

• A leather blazer layered over a neutral top, trousers, and sneakers.

• A sweater layered over her shoulders. She is also wearing a graphic tee, trousers, sneakers, sunglasses, and a tote bag.

TRY IT YOURSELF: Try layering a classic coat or jacket on top of your outfit for an elevated look.

STYLE ELEMENT #3: FAVORITES ON REPEAT

Kaia knows what she likes to wear and she sticks to it! I love this about her style because it feels so normal and relatable. Some of her most worn pieces/wardrobe essentials are:

• Trousers - switches between wide-leg and fitted

  • Bleusalt actually has ‘The Kaia Pant’, which is basically a flared legging, and Kaia wears these a lot

• Sneakers - all different styles & brands

• Leather boots - seems to wear chunky leather boots a lot

• Black shoulder bag - good closet staple that can go with so many outfits

• Tote bag - makes any outfit look more casual & effortless

• Cardigans - good closet staple that can be worn as a top or a layer

• Birkenstock boston shoes - casual & comfortable shoes that she seems to wear a lot

• Leggings - athleisure essential

• Crew socks - the perfect addition to an athleisure look

• Sweatshirts - comfy essential

• Relaxed jeans - good closet staple that can be worn casually or slightly dressed up

• Tees - a good closet staple for everyone

I personally love Kaia’s style, especially as someone who loves LA style! She’s authentic to herself and sticks to what she loves. Definitely good everyday outfit inspo!
